In a presence of over 200 high level guests and employees of GRIMME China Franz, Christine and Christoph Grimme opened in Tianjin (130 km south-east of Beijing) an ultra-modern factory of 12.500 sqm. The office building of 1400 sqm was also commissioned to provide services on the 3.5 hectares area. With over €13 million, it is one of the largest foreign investments in over 150 years of the company history.

The manager of this project, Mr Christoph Grimme, emphasised: “The plant is intended for the advanced manufacturing, therefore, we can guarantee the same high quality of products as in the main factory in Damme.” The main aim for the production is, initially, manufacturing of machines for planting, cultivation, harvesting, and storage of potatoes, machines developed especially for the Chinese market.

For over 20 years the company from Damme has been actively operating in China. With over 5 million hectares of potatoes, China is the largest developing country in the world, and they have recently noted a rapid growth. The Chinese government announced that potato is one of four most important food products, and wants to develop potato production on a mass scale.
