Zielone AGRO SHOW (Green AGRO SHOW) – exhibition summary

30.05.2018

GREEN AGRO SHOW has been held since 2002; therefore, this year’s edition is the seventeenth in the row. Each year the event attracts exhibitors and visitors, mainly those associated with cattle breeding, milk production, and cultivation of green fodder.

Traditionally, Sunday was the day on which the numbers of visiting farmers were the highest. According to the organiser’s estimation, this year during two days the exhibition was visited by a similar number of visitors as in the previous year, that is, by ca. 35 thousand people. On the area of nearly 15,000 m2 nearly 140 exhibitors displayed modern machines for green fodder production, seeds, fertilisers, feeds and feed additives, components of lifestock buildings, agricultural films, and much more.

‘The exhibition was held in Lubelskie voivodeship for the third time already. We see that for the farmers from this region it has become an important date in the calendar of fairs. Thanks to our efforts and promotion of the exhibition during last years, we manage to reach farmers and convince them to visit Green AGRO SHOW. This is confirmed by the excellent turn out and positive opinions of exhibitors. The event develops continuously. To meet expectations of companies from the agriculture sector, this year for the first time we changed the way of machine presentations. We hope that with these changes they will become more clear and accessible to farmers,’ says Mr Michał Spaczyński, Vice-President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce for Agricultural Machines and Facilities.

Green AGRO SHOW does not focus solely on presentation of machines and of products in the exhibition stands, but it is also an opportunity to pass knowledge to farmers; so also this year seminars on cattle breeding and green fodder cultivation were held. During these two days, specialists from the Lublin Agricultural Advisory Centre held four meetings with farmers. On Saturday, not only information on activities of the Lublin Agricultural Advisory Centre dedicated farmers and rural areas was presented, but the visitors could also participate in a lecture on methods to reduce costs of milk production. For Sunday, seminars on importance of well-being for cattle, and of importance of meadow and pasture condition and their influence on farmer’s profits were prepared.

During the exhibition, an attraction for some younger participants and fans of recording and displaying videos on YouTube was also prepared. The second edition of the competition “Make show at AGRO SHOW” was held especially for them. With help from Słomka and Grzegorz Bardowski, the participants could record their report or prepare photo documentation from the exhibition. The authors of the most interesting works will win attractive prizes.
This year’s event was held under honorary auspices of Mr Krzysztof Jurgiel, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and its media patron was TVP1.
The exhibition at the grounds of the Moto Park in Ułęż was open to visitors from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on May 26 and 27. As in other years, The Polish Chamber of Commerce for Agricultural Machines and Facilities provided free entry, parking and exhibition catalogue, as well as co-financed arrivals of groups organised by dairies, agricultural advisory centres, commune offices, agricultural chambers, and schools.

‘This year’s exhibition goes down in history as a successful event. Due to small amount of rainfall before the exhibition we were slightly worried about the condition of meadows prepared for presentations. Fortunately, they were managed correctly and the material was of good quality. The presentations could be held in accordance with the planned scenario. The weather and the turn-out were great during the Exhibition. I am convinced that farmers who came to the exhibition did not lose the time invested in it, and that this visit will translate into benefits for their farms. We would like to invite everybody to the next year’s edition of GREEN AGRO SHOW, and before that, to the 20th anniversary of the International Agricultural Exhibition AGRO SHOW that will be held in Bednary on September 20–23,’ concludes Mr Michał Spaczyński, Vice-President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce for Agricultural Machines and Facilities.

Presentations of machines at work are a fixed, and the most eagerly awaited and impressive item on the event agenda. This year, they were divided into two parts. The first part concerned presentations of mowers and tedders. During the second part, rolling presses, pressing and wrapping machines, harvesting trailers, and field chaff cutters were shown.

This time, 44 machines were presented, including 12 mowers, 3 tedders, 13 rolling presses, 5 pressing and wrapping machines, 6 harvesting trailers, 2 self-propelled chaff cutters  and 3 units for resowing of green areas. In individual groups, machines differed in their working width, production capacity, advancement of technical solution and, of course, price, forming a range from which a machine for nearly every farm could be selected.

The mower working width ranged from 2.8 m to 9.5 m. Apart from five mowers trailed by a tractor, of a width from 2.8 to 3.2 m, four sets consisting of a front and a rear mowers of a working width of 6 m and three sets consisting of a front mower and two rear mowers of a working width ranging from 7.5 to 9.5 m were presented. Mowers from the following companies (listed alphabetically) were presented: Claas, Fendt, Krone, Kubota, Kuhn, McHale, Pöttinger, SaMASZ, Talex and Unia. The self-propelled chaff cutter, Claas Jaguar 940, was also equipped with a cutting unit Direct Disc 520. Traditionally, the presentations of mowers at work ended with their show, that is, simultaneously 12 machines cut grass in the presentation field.

Of 13 rolling presses, five had a fixed chamber, while the remaining were equipped with an adjustable pressing chamber. Rolling presses were displayed by the following companies (listed alphabetically): Claas, Fendt, John Deere, Krone, Kubota, Kuhn, Maschio-Gaspardo, McHale, New Holland, Pöttinger and Unia, while pressing and wrapping machines were presented by the brands: Krone, Kverneland, McHale and Unia. FastBale, the pressing and wrapping machine from Kverneland belongs to a new generation of machines working non-stop, with the fixed chamber rolling press equipped with an initial pressing chamber. Harvesting trailers for collection of green fodder for silaging were presented by the companies: Claas, Fendt, Krone, Pöttinger, Schuitemaker and Strautmann. The self-propelled chuff cutter Krone Big X 700 loaded green fodder onto a harvesting trailer Krone RX 360 GD. Presentation of machines ended with three units for grass sowing from companies: Agro-Masz, APV and Maschio-Gaspardo.

Machines for presentation were notified by their manufacturers or their regional representatives (listed alphabetically): Agrobard, Agronom, Agro-Masz, Agromix, Agrotex, APV Polska, FINO, John Deere, Kuhn, Kverneland, Maschio-Gaspardo, McHale Engineering Ltd, Roltex, Sprzedaż Ciągników i Maszyn Rolniczych Leszek Komoń, Talex i Techmlek.

The presentations would not occur without exhibitors’ involvement in preparing the presentation field and management of the harvested material. This year we would like to offer special thanks for preparing the presentation fields to the company Roltex (Claas representative), as well as to companies Agromix (Krone) and Sprzedaż Ciągników i Maszyn Rolniczych Leszek Komoń (Pöttinger). We also would like to thank the company McHale for wrapping all pressed bales after the show, and the company Finplast for delivering the film for wrapping the bales.
