Metal cutting during production of agricultural machines

14.04.2023

SWORD is a Polish company operating in the technologies of cutting with band and disc saws. Being a specialist company, it can offer optimised tools and machines that will generate savings in material, and production time and quality. Sword-Master and Amada saws are purchased in particular by manufacturers of field, silage, and municipal machines.

Cutting of metal components – profiles, rollers, or pipes – is one of the first stages in the agricultural machines manufacturing. After cutting to the set dimensions, machine manufactures process the components further, for example, by milling the cut surface to remove the undesirable irregularities.

From the point of view of experts in cutting, repeating the same activity means an additional cost and a need to involve employees, whose cost is currently continuously increasing.

Quality of cutting

‘It is possible to obtain a mirror-like cutting surface of any steel’, thinks Piotr Marszałek, an engineer at the Technical Department at Sword. ‘The use of appropriate machines and tools is also important. If you are also interested in the speed of the process, you should check the abilities of disc saws from Amada. We presented such machine at the fair in Katowice last year, and you can also take a look at videos on our YouTube channel’, he explains.

Japanese machines

The best approach is confirming advantages of using a correctly chosen band machine with its experienced users, for example, at Inter-Tech from Zambrów, a company manufacturing harrows, racking machines, and front loaders, among others. ‘The use of Amada HA-250 ensured for us the required quality, reliability and speed of cutting. Equally important is the constant support from the technical department and maintenance service of the company, who supplied us with the machine and now provides us with blades’, emphasises Piotr Jankowski, the Inter-Tech President.

Economic operation

It should be borne in mind that although the band cutting process itself is not very expensive due to a relatively low price of blades, yet the cost of the processed material is more than important. This fact forces us to focus on professional selection and optimising.

Sword offers band saws for processing of metal, wood, food, and other materials, at all widths, tooth type, and dimensions. The main company advantage is its specialisation and scale. Every year, about 700 thousand pieces of band saws leaves the plant in Gdynia, to reach about six thousand customers in Poland and abroad.

Various possible applications

‘We have been cooperating with SWORD for over 10 years already’, says Janusz Wrona from the Purchase Department at SaMasz, from Zabłudow, Podlasie. SaMasz is one of the largest manufacturers of various machines, including those for silage production, municipal, and those used in winter – ploughs and sweepers.

‘We use Sword-Master Super saws to cut bars, and the AP line to cut profiles. The Sword unconditional satisfaction guarantee is also of importance for us’, emphasises Janusz Wrona.

Satisfaction guarantee

The unconditional guarantee of satisfaction with Sword-Master saws allows customers to return all unused tools, regardless of the reason, within 180 days, with full reimbursement of the price paid. It represents the Sword statement on its quality policy and focus on long-term support for the customers in their production processes.
