04.11.2021

On 25-26 November this year, at the AMBEREXPO Exhibition and Congress Center (ul. Żaglowa 11, Gdańsk), the national SkillsPoland 2021 competition will be held for the first time. It is a qualification for the international WorldSkills competition, which will take place on 12-17 October 2022 in China. One of the partners of the event is the Polish Chamber of Commerce for Agricultural Machines and Facilities.

SkillsPoland that is…?

SkillsPoland is an extraordinary event, which has not been in our country yet. SkillsPoland will consist of several events, but it is primarily a nationwide competition, which will take place in as many as 9 categories (floristry, CNC milling, hairdressing, sanitary and heating installations, electrical installations, furniture, agricultural vehicle mechanics, hotel guest services, carpentry). 100 contestants (including foreign contestants) will perform during the competition and will be judged by 30 judges from Poland and abroad. Over the course of 2 days, contestants from all over Poland will compete to select the best of the best who will represent our country at the international finals in China (WorldSkills Shanghai 2022).

SkillsPoland also means discussion panels with representatives of science, business, government, local government, workshops for teachers, “try a skill” zones for visitors, partner zones, school and university fairs and many other attractions.

The sole organizer of the event is the Foundation for the Development of the Education System and SkillsPoland. SkillsPoland 2021 is hosted by the City of Gdańsk, the event will be held under the patronage of the Minister of Education and Science, the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, the University of Gdańsk and the Future Industry Platform.

What is particularly interesting for our industry is agricultural vehicle mechanics competition, whose partner is the Polish Chamber of Commerce for Agricultural Machines and Facilities. The winners of the Young Mechanic Medal in 2020 competition will take part in the qualifying rounds. They are Sławomir Łukomski from the Stanisław Mikołajczyk Complex of Natural and Service Schools in Gniezno, Paweł Oleszczyk from the Agricultural Education Center School Complex in Dobryszyce, Rafał Piechaczek from the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław. Marek Wiącek, who has already participated in the EuroSkills competition in Graz and is currently a student of the University of Life Sciences in Poznań, will also compete with the “wild card”. The winner of the competition will represent our country in our specialization next year at WorldSkills in Shanghai.

For the second time, the Young Mechanic Medal competition was a qualifying round and a ticket to compete for participation in international competitions. This year it was the European EuroSkills competition, next year the world competition – WorldSkills. The Polish Chamber of Commerce for Agricultural Machines and Facilities cooperates with the Foundation for the Development of the Education System and adjusts its competitions to the cycles and rules of international competitions.

The sponsors of the agricultural vehicle mechanic competition during the event in Gdańsk will be John Deere and Komatsu, the hospitality of which our players will enjoy and a week before the competition in Gdańsk, they will take part in training at the premises of these companies.

Who can take part in the competition?

The competition is aimed at pupils, students and working people who on 12October 2022 will be 18 years old and under 23 years of age.
